Pre and Post-operative Pathway

Pre-operative
Record if patient is low or high risk based on age, comorbidities and social circumstances
Refer to POA (high risk if needed)

Post-operative: Rehabilitation Stage
Before the person leaves hospital, a referral should be made to physiotherapy to commence in 2–3 weeks time
Rehabilitation can include virtual delivery where appropriate, including group-based rehabilitation or supported self-management

Post-discharge
(target 72 hours or on the day for day-case)
Wound review and suture removal at GP 7–10 days if non-absorbable

8–12 Weeks
Review by surgical team or nurse
Wound review
X-rays if clinical concerns
Ensure patient is reaching their goals and there are no complications

PIFU: 12 Months
(GIRFT & BSR data PROMS)
If no clinical concerns —
discharge
